CHILDREN'S PARK

The experience of the children’s park
Flashes smile creating a divine spark
Leaving on the heart its pleasant mark
With a ray of hope removes the dark

By watching kids in merry go round
Encircling the same rotating around
Some riding it and others on ground
Appearing as wonderfully profound

Up and down playing on the see saw
So much peace the children’s draw
Mixed feelings of pleasure and awe
This whole scene appears quite raw

Back and forth moving on swings
While the hand grasps it and clings
To young ones such delight it brings
As they think to fly if by the wings

Again you’ll find them on the slide
Through them they smoothly glide
The excitement here you can’t hide
To this place always I wish to abide

The little toddlers run and tumble
As their parents shout and grumble
Even thought this place is humble
Here tension and worries crumble

Assuming here to children’s ways
All the sports games and the plays
To this feeling no words or phrase
This way I return to childhood days

MY SOCIAL CONCERNS

Some of the traditions obsolete
Quite a few deep rooted albeit
Glancing at the social structure
Grieved by its present texture
Draped inside the superstition
By losing the power to reason
As I too feel at times helpless
And this I hesitatingly confess
Truly not knowing our identity
We’ve been indulged in enmity
Fighting with no reason or cause
Ignoring natures rules and laws
On basis of regions and religion
Instead of unity creating division
Constructing religious monument
With no concern for environment
Spending lavishly on the festivals
While poor in poverty struggles
Wastage of the food in restaurant
As many suffers malnourishment
One of which is the untouchables
It’s here our intellect ensembles
Supporting the evil and wrong
Making same tough and strong
None thinks of the grave issues
Or try to express the right views
One of which is child marriage
But its evil we do not envisage
Gender of the birth we decide
In the form of female foeticide
Engulfing the society in its fire
Widows’ burn in wooden pyre
Still now there is child labour
Don’t know in whose favour
Following the age old legacy
Not asserting towards literacy
The ever increasing population
For survival is a great question
Blindly cutting down the trees
In their place growing industries
Suffering by our own mistakes
Drying away of rivers and lakes
Cruelty to the animals and bird
Must be criticized in every word
Every moment polluting earth
Almost forgetting its real worth
Finally here my belief I’ve hurled
It’s high time to assess anomalies
And trying to correct our follies
Aspiring for unity and equality
Let work towards a better society
