THE POET IN ME

Seeking the accurate definition of the poet
The one who states with polished etiquette
Express without any compulsion or threat
Thro’ the epic, ode, elegy, verse or sonnet

And the words are just honey dew smooth
Written with sincerity, honesty and truth
To relax the mind and the heart to soothe
With a vocabulary as gentle as the velvet

Traversing out straight through my soul
Into which emotions and passions enroll
Cooking them carefully in a literary bowl
With keenest effort to enrich the gourmet

May be somewhere in the course of time
Thoughts will echo and words will rhyme
Into the mind the imaginations will prime
Making me feel as a colossus or a midget

Often checking my fluency of the words
Viewing perceptions hovering like birds
Through the psyche approaching towards
My memoirs which are difficult to forget

Always haunting me every now and then
Unable to check it whenever they happen
A curse or a boon I wish I could unfasten
Escape away from being destiny’s puppet

With a wish to reap from the seeds sown
For most of the journey I’ve been alone
Still few moments I wish to call my own
Enshrouding myself in a visionary casket

THE FRIDAY PRAYER

The day today is like any other and same
But as I woke up today the thought came

That today is Friday and I have to attend
By noon, to the mosque, I have to ascend
This day each and every week I’m aware
And I make sure I don’t miss the prayer
God forbid, then it will be quite a shame

On time, I dress up in the usual costume
And I don’t forget to rub on the perfume
I then wash my hands, my face and feet
All tasks performed with ample discreet
I start from my home with Allah’s name

And thro’ the route towards the mosque
I find people gather by stalls and kiosk
Then the regular call for prayer is heard
And just inside the mosque as I entered
I saw there beggars, lepers and the lame

And you’ll see people distributing alms
Further friends greeting with open arms
I take my stand with my hands folded
Before divinity heart and soul moulded
With earnest efforts my desires I tame

You’ll also hear the priest’s discourse
Asking people on their sins to remorse
As he thinks that whatever he’ll preach
The hearts of the people it must reach
By win over evil, the good must claim

For various reasons people come here
As for some there conscience adhere
Few without cause or with compulsion
And some with unknown apprehension
Some to seek peace and some for fame

Sometimes its destiny at times its fate
Due to which certain situations elate
Some are good and then some are bad
Into different souls draped and clad
It’s the providence, you cannot blame

Finally I hope that I do not confuse
In expressing my opinion and virtues
Life’s just a sport and a tournament
Just play it with cool temperament
Loss and win is the part of the game

THE SUN SHINE

The sun shines and the shadows incline
Caricatures are drawn as images define

The retrospective intuitions of the soul
In tryst to realize all that’s fair and foul
With variant colors smearing one’s soul
Enacting to the best the script and role
And sculpturing one’s own life’s design

With scorching heat bearing the burnt
Often erupting by complains and grunt
Sharpening daggers in an effort to hunt
But on the occasion it often gets blunt
As story of success the fate will define

Thro’ the horizon gently sinking down
While eclipsing itself in a global gown
Into the obscurity, as radiance drown
As passion cheers and emotions frown
Sometimes feeling as if on cloud nine

But the emergence of the ray of hope
As dawn discerns thro’ a divine slope
A saga into which day and night rope
With efforts envisaged to find a scope
Finally plunging into the eternal shrine

VENUS AND MARS

She’s from Venus, he’s from Mars
Either in love or else busy in wars

Best of friends or the worst of foes
Sometimes distant sometimes close
Joined in bunch as thorns and rose
Often inspiring me to write a prose
Blooming with fragrance of flowers

Some one’s honest, some one flirts
Feelings bring peace, even it hurts
Heart to mind, the emotions skirts
And from within the passion spurts
Raining on soul as spring showers

The feelings really tests my belief
That brings ecstasy and even grief
Tough to escape and without relief
Effects elevated but at times brief
And these may even leave its scars

On sands of time, leaving the sign
Warming nerves, chilling the spine
Love and hate at each other incline
With relations heavenly and divine
As if between, sun, moon and stars

IN MY REFERENCE

At the back of my thoughts, it often occurs
During the journey that I plan and traverse

One’s destiny and fate depends on direction
So decide about moving forward or reverse

The one who hates is the one who loves
And there is no blessing without the curse

Your belief in your will’s going to triumph
Don’t lose faith when situation gets worse

Bond of togetherness escorts to happiness
When united we stand enemies disperse

Truth is eternal and the false will perish
Don’t ignore conscience when it whispers

In order to be healed, try to feel the pain
Life isn’t worth, without hardship it suffers

Life is an act without the trials and retakes
Scenes are instant, you just can’t rehearse

First each soul is molded in the same way
Then they are draped in cultures diverse

Don’t carry the load of the loans and debts
As its here where your deeds will reimburse

Expressing my views in plain and easy way
I try to keep simple all my prose and verse

Few moments of grief, few moments of joy
According to me this is what this life refers

SELF ANALYSIS

Take the control and take the lead
Overcome desire overcome greed
By checking our actions and deed
Towards a new life let us proceed

Giving new meaning to happiness
Through a new zeal and eagerness
Finding harmony by sharing smiles
Without differing by caste or creed

On the journey to establish peace
Where all our disparity will cease
And all should have equal rights
As we all belong to the same breed

Saving the earth and environment
With effort sincere and prominent
If our existence is to be prolonged
Earnestly we’ve to check our need

Its time to innovate and renovate
Doing more than destiny and fate
Saving our lives from destruction
By listening to requests and plead

Old rituals, customs and traditions
And also quite a few superstitions
With efforts to unfold the myths
Let’s see that our souls are freed

All we seek and chase is affluence
But of success it has no assurance
By learning the virtue of sacrifice
We can make a better life indeed
