INVALUABLE SACRIFICE

often i took birth and often i died
whenever i did i left one satisfied

i did construct, i was used to burn
at times i was sold in order to earn
often for kids I was used as a slide

i was used for shelter and for food
i gave them fruits, i gave the wood
at times i got rid even of my hide

i was used to sit and i used to sleep
and their belongings i used to keep
as i was used whether wet or dried

i was used to play, used as a swing
they also used me to dance and sing
i was their friend, i was their guide

i was with them from birth till death
i helped them to take a fresh breath
when pollution's spread far and wide

i sacrificed my life for their welfare
and of this i never made them aware
so they never knew whenever i cried

when i am used i must also be cared
few places over here must be spared
so that i can grow, spread and divide
